BEA’s BR3-X provides both simple and advanced logic controls.
Functions include: timer, ratchet/latching, inhibitor, 2 relay sequencer + inhibitor, 2 relay sequencer + door position deactivation timer, 3 relay sequencer + “1-shot”, 3 relay sequencer with “independent relay”, interlock timer, interlock ratchet / latching, 2 way 2 relay sequence, normally locked restroom, normally unlocked restroom, 3 relay sequencer + “day / night mode”.
Common uses for the BR3-X include automatic pedestrian doors, access control, industrial automation and single-occupancy restrooms.
Versatility with 13 programmable logic functions for the BR3-X
Two-button programming combined with dual seven-segment display provides simple setup
Two 3-AMP relays and one 1-AMP relay, all with built-in surge suppression, eliminates the need for external components when installing some electric locking devices
WET output with AC / DC voltage for powering an electric locking device directly from the module

13 function, programmable, 3-relay advanced logic module
Low-energy lockout module
Delay on make / delay on break time relay module
Why won’t the BR3-X operate after I select a function?
The relay hold times are set to 0. Set them to a value greater than 0.
Why does the BR3-X display “E2”?
This is caused by a power (voltage/amperage) event. Cycle power and reprogram.
With the BR3-X set to function 25, why is the door attempting to open but the strike is not releasing?
The jumpers or voltage may be incorrect. Move the jumpers to WET and meter the output voltage/continuity.
How do I program the BR3-X to lock out a BODYGUARD?
The BR3-X cannot be programmed to lock out a BODYGUARD. You must use an LO21 series lockout module.
What is the “r” with small horizontal lines?
Each of the three (3) small horizontal lines represents 1 of the 3 relays; the top line represents relay 1, the middle line represents relay 2, and the bottom line represents relay 3.
With the BR3-X set to function 25, why will the door not open?
The relay hold times are set to 0. Set them to a value greater than 0.
How do I program a function when the BR3-X flashes “NP”?
Wait until “NP” stops blinking (~ 5 seconds) and the display shows “00”, and then reprogram.
How do I achieve BR3 function 25 functionality with the BR3-X?
Functions 36 and 37 on the BR3-X can both be used in the same manner as function 25 on the BR3.
Does the BR3-X have the same functions as the BR3?
Yes, all BR3 functionality can be achieved using the BR3-X. See the User’s Guide for a function cross-reference.
Do I have to change both jumpers for wet output functionality?
Yes, in order to get voltage (wet output) out of relay 1, you will need to set both jumpers to WET; additionally, the common is the positive (+) terminal and the N/O or N/C is the negative (-) terminal.
